This is where it all started! My love for animals. I grew up in a tiny little town that when you blinked you'd just pass us by! I loved snakes, snails, and puppy dog tails! While most little girls loved dressing up, I was out in the pasture with the horses, exploring the farm, or down in the old pond catching anything slithering or slimy like tadpoles, and snakes! Everyday was an adventure! I am the oldest of three (that's me on the far left) If you ask my siblings about me, they would say I was the model big sister! Often ditching them behind any way I could.
Life went on, we moved off of the farm, and into the city life. There I volunteered at the local shelter on the weekends, and took in any stray I could find! We may have moved to the big city, but the one animal policy never applied on the farm or there!
I grew up with a variety of pets. We had dogs, cats, hamsters, mice, gerbils, fish, and tarantula's. Turtles, snakes, and the occasional salamander! Time moved on, and I grew up, moved away from home, to Hawaii where my oldest was born, and then came back home in 93 to take care of my Mom before she passed away in 2000. Our family soon expanded from 1 to 4 kiddos total. Two of my children were born with special needs, and have inspired me in to many ways to count.

This is me 9 years ago with my rock, my Dad, just after I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkins' Lymphoma in 2010. I started treatment that summer, and achieved remission in late Sept. Treatment continued on until January, but just 2 months later my cancer came back. I have to say I could not have done this without my family, and yes my critters! They still depended on me, I had to get up and feed, water and care for their needs! I had to stop taking orders in the summer of 2011 to begin salvage chemo, and onward to a bone marrow transplant. I just celebrated 9 years of remission. I've had a couple scares, and will be monitored for some time, as I have a chance of it coming back. With each year of remission comes the possibility of my being cured. I am so thankful for each and every precious day I have been given. I'm a fighter, and making things for others, sharing my life experiences makes the journey that much more sweeter! We have downsized our chinchilla herd and retired out my favorites here with me.
The website not only helps to pay for my on going medical bills, but it helps support the rescue birds, that I have taken in over the years, Most have an issue of some sort, or deemed not pet quality. Hopefully they will be here as long as I am physically able to care and support them.
So to my family, friends, furry and feathered kids, and customers I say thanks for the ride, and your words of support, and most of all the friendships I have made along the way!
